A 1950s-inspired identity for elegant pug gift company

The Brief

Walter & Florence is a start-up company selling elegant pug gifts inspired by two real life pugs: Walter and Florence. The owner came to us with just pug illustrations at the start, and required a complete brand identity, website and marketing collateral package. They wanted the brand identity to hark back to the style of the 1950s.

What we did

We created an identity inspired by the 1950s, with a French twist; the brandmark was inspired by the owner’s love of Parisian hat boxes. We chose bright colours based on the pug illustrations, and developed a whimsical visual style that reflects the nature of pugs. A ‘Woof’ stamp was created in addition to the logo, combining Walter and Florence’s initials. The type families are a combination of mid-century Futura and French-style Quimby.

How we helped

We created a website incorporating the new brand identity, tailoring web fonts and colours to match. The site was built with Wordpress, and the shop integrated with WooCommerce. The website was tailored to fit the company’s desired functionality. It is fully-responsive to work on all screen sizes.
